Falkland Surgery
Trainer: Dr Adrian Penn
Falkland Surgery has 2 full-time and 2 part-time partners, we have a list size of approximately 7,000 patients who live in Gorleston, Bradwell and the surrounding areas. The practice is located in Bradwell within a mile and half of the James Paget Hospital.
There are pockets of deprivation within the practice area. We offer virtually the full range of GP services with all partners carrying out minor surgery, child health surveillance, maternity and contraceptive care. We hit all the higher targets for immunisations and smears and run asthma and diabetic care programs and coronary heart disease prevention programs.
The practice achieves high returns on the Quality and Outcomes Framework. The externally assessed markers of patient satisfaction, continuity of care and accessibility are all in the top range of the PCTs performance indicators. We operate a personalised list system.
Our team is supported by 4 independent nurse prescribers, 2 health care assistants, practice manager and 9 reception/admin staff. District nurses, health visitors, midwife, IAPT and CBT are attached to the team. There is a dedicated consulting room for the GP Registrar.
We use EMIS LV and are working towards a paper-light policy for patient records and administration. Our OOH service is covered by South East Health.
Partners meet weekly to discuss both management and clinical issues and monthly in the evening for educational meetings.
All practice staff are committed to delivering a high quality of patient centred care recognising the need for effective teamwork. The presence of and support given to a Trainee are recognised as assets within the process of Integrated Governance required to maintain the standards we strive to achieve.
